The New York Knicks ended a 53-year wait for NBA glory after rallying to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, sealing a commanding 4-1 series victory and capturing their first championship since 1973.

Jalen Brunson delivered a performance for the ages, pouring in 45 points and taking over in the closing stages with 13 consecutive points to inspire another remarkable comeback. His heroics erased a 16-point deficit and secured one of the most memorable triumphs in franchise history.

The Knicks showcased resilience throughout the series, overcoming double-digit deficits in each of their four victories before completing the job on the road in San Antonio.

Despite a valiant effort from Victor Wembanyama, who finished with 19 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks, the Spurs were unable to contain New York’s late surge as their hopes of forcing another game faded in the final minutes.

Brunson’s 45-point explosion also set a new Knicks record for the highest scoring performance in an NBA Finals game, underlining his status as the driving force behind the club’s long-awaited return to the top.

The final buzzer sparked wild celebrations among players and fans alike, with jubilant supporters flooding the streets of New York to celebrate a championship that had eluded the franchise for more than five decades.

For the Knicks, the victory marks the end of one of the longest title droughts in NBA history and crowns a remarkable season defined by grit, belief and timely comebacks.
