A Nigerian actress and evangelist Tonto Dikeh has called on Christian men to approach relationships with genuine intention, urging them to stop relying solely on spiritual declarations when pursuing women for marriage.
In a video shared on Instagram, Dikeh criticised the practice of telling women, “God told me you are my wife,” without demonstrating commitment, emotional investment or deliberate effort during courtship.
She said meaningful relationships requires more than spiritual claims.
According to the actress, divine guidance should complement, not replace practical actions that reflect care, respect and sincerity.
She argued that intentional courtship involves building trust, spending time together and showing genuine interest in a potential spouse.
Dikeh also challenged the assumption that women in church do not appreciate thoughtful gestures or gifts while being courted.
She said using spiritual language to avoid making an effort misrepresents Christian values and healthy relationship principles.
> “God can send you, but using spiritual language to mask emotional laziness is a distortion of God’s character,” she said.
She maintained that claiming divine direction is not an excuse to avoid intentional pursuit, stressing that successful Christian relationships should be built on commitment, care and purposeful actions.
