The need for the acquisition of extra lingual capabilities has become an advantage in today’s world especially with the continuing free movement across the African continent and beyond by Nigerians.
Director General of National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, Professor Sulaiman Abubakar reiterated this position by calling on the management and staff of the institution to seek and acquire such skills.
Speaking at the official commencement of free French Language Classes for Staff of NILDS on Monday, Professor Abubakar commended those who registered for the programme for their dedication.
” By simply being here today,you have already demonstrated a willingness to learn,grow and challenge yourselves beyond your regular professional responsibilities.That,in itself,is commendable”
He noted that when the proposal for free French lessons was brought to him,he treated it with speed to ensure implementation.
‘ I saw it as an opportunity for our staff to acquire a valuable life skill ,expand their horizons,and strengthen our institute’s capacity for international engagement ” he said.
Also speaking at the ceremony, representive of the Director General of National Youth Service Corps( NYSC) , the Director Community Development,Chinwendu Chukwu expressed satisfaction with activities of the corps members who will serve as teachers in the exercise.
He also commended the institute for always coming up with innovative ideas geared towards strengthening human development.
In a vote of thanks,the Director ,Training and International Cooperations,Joke Akinsanmi expressed gladness with the the entire programme and thanked all those present for their support.
