Education Minister Tunji Alausa will lead discussions on President Bola Tinubu’s education reforms at the 2026 Education Summit on July 15 in Abuja.
The summit, organised by the Education Correspondents Association of Nigeria (ECAN), has as theme: “Three Years of the Tinubu Administration: Assessing Reforms, Progress, and Challenges in Nigeria’s Education Sector.”
ECAN Chairman Chux Ukwuatu said the event will bring together policymakers, academics, development partners, school administrators, researchers, civil society groups, students and media professionals.
Participants will review the impact of the Federal Government’s education reforms, assess progress, discuss ongoing challenges and recommend practical solutions to improve access, quality and equity across all levels of education.
Alausa will officially open the summit and present the administration’s education agenda, highlighting key achievements and areas that need sustained attention.
The event will also feature an awards ceremony recognising individuals and institutions for outstanding contributions to education and human capital development.
Honourees include Alausa, NUC Executive Secretary Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, TETFund Executive Secretary Sonny Echono, NECO Registrar Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi and JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede.
According to Ukwuatu, the awards recognise leadership, institutional reforms and efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s education system.
He expressed confidence that the summit will produce actionable recommendations and deepen collaboration among education stakeholders.
