Gov Yusuf Retains Garo As 2027 Running Mate

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has reaffirmed his confidence in Deputy Governor Murtala Garo, announcing that he will remain his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.

The announcement was made during a meeting with federal political appointees at the Kano Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, according to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Tofa.

Governor Yusuf said the decision was informed by Garo’s loyalty, competence and outstanding performance in office, noting that the deputy governor has remained a dependable partner in advancing the administration’s development agenda across the state.

“I have no regrets whatsoever in choosing Murtala Garo as my deputy. He has consistently demonstrated loyalty, dedication and an unwavering commitment to the people of Kano State,” Yusuf said.

The governor added that Garo’s support has been instrumental in the implementation of key government policies and programmes, expressing confidence that the partnership would continue to deliver meaningful development for the state.

Yusuf also called on party leaders, political appointees and supporters to remain united and focused as preparations gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that cohesion within the party would be critical to achieving its electoral goals.
