South African Grammy-winning singer Tyla has removed Lagos from the schedule of her upcoming APOP World Tour.
The Lagos concert was initially scheduled for December 22.
A check of the singer’s official tour website on Friday showed that the Lagos date was no longer listed.
The updated tour schedule still includes previously announced shows across Europe, North America and South Africa.
However, Nigeria is no longer included in the itinerary.
Lagos was earlier announced as the only Nigerian stop on the tour.
The tour is expected to end with concerts in Cape Town on January 4 and Johannesburg on January 9.
Tyla’s earlier announcement of a Lagos concert generated mixed reactions on social media.
Some Nigerians welcomed the planned show, while others called for a boycott.
The boycott calls followed reports of renewed xenophobic attacks against Nigerians living in South Africa.
Media personalities Do2dtun and VeryDarkMan were among those who urged Nigerians to boycott the concert.
Some social media users argued that South African artistes should not perform in Nigeria while Nigerians faced xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
Others disagreed and said musicians should not be held responsible for political or social problems.
As of the time of filing this report, Tyla and her management had not explained why the Lagos concert was removed from the tour schedule.
Concert promoters had also not announced whether the show was cancelled or postponed.
The removal of the Lagos date has raised fresh questions about the future of the planned concert and whether the decision is connected to the boycott calls.
