Cynthia Anijekwu has made an emotional appeal for financial assistance after revealing that she is battling cancer for the second time.
In a video shared on social media, the Nollywood actress disclosed that she was first diagnosed with cancer in 2023 and underwent surgery and chemotherapy, believing she had overcome the illness.
However, she said recent medical examinations confirmed that the cancer has returned and spread to her bones, leaving her in urgent need of radiation therapy, another surgery, and continuous medical care.
According to Anijekwu, the cost of her treatment has placed an enormous financial strain on her family, with monthly medical expenses estimated at about ₦600,000.
Fighting back tears, the actress appealed to Nigerians and well-meaning individuals to support her battle against the disease.
“I need to live. I need to survive. Anyone who can help, please help me. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference,” she pleaded.
Known for her roles in several English- and Igbo-language Nollywood productions, Anijekwu said she remains optimistic that she can overcome the illness once again with timely treatment and the support of the public.
Her appeal has since drawn sympathy from fans and colleagues, with many expressing hope that she will receive the assistance needed to continue her treatment and make a full recovery.
