President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio, has urged Nigerians to promote peace, unity and mutual respect as Muslims mark Eid-el-Maulud.
In a message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio described the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad as enduring examples of compassion, tolerance, humility and service to humanity.
He called on Muslims to reflect on these virtues and pray for peace, unity as well as progress in Nigeria.
Akpabio also urged Nigerians to look beyond religious and ethnic differences, stressing that the country’s diversity should serve as a source of strength rather than division.
President of the Senate further called on religious leaders to pray for the nation’s leaders, improved security, economic prosperity and national cohesion.
Meanwhile, he reaffirmed the commitment of the 10th Senate to supporting legislation and policies that protect religious freedom, strengthen national unity and improve the welfare of Nigerians.
Akpabio also extended his Eid-el-Maulud greetings to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
He wished Muslims across Nigeria and the world a peaceful and joyous celebration.
