President Bola Tinubu has ordered an immediate rescue operation following the mass abduction of worshippers in Niger State.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclose this in a statement on Tuesday.
Tinubu condemn the attack, describing the perpetrators as “enemies of peace and enemies of humanity.”
“Those who carried out this cowardly attack on defenceless Nigerians are enemies of peace and enemies of humanity, who will not go scot-free.”
The President directed the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services and other security agencies to launch a coordinated operation to rescue the abducted victims.
He also assure affected families that the government would not relent until their loved ones were brought back safely.
“We will not rest until your sons, daughters, mothers and fathers are brought back safely to you.”
Tinubu further vowed that Nigeria would not succumb to terrorism.
“Terror will not cow Nigeria. We will defend our people, protect our communities, and uphold the sanctity of human life.”
The victims were reportedly abducted when terrorists invaded a mosque in Gidan-Zana, Kpenya village, Dekara District, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, during Jumat prayers.
Women, children and elderly worshippers were among those reportedly taken during the attack.
