Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, has paid tribute to veteran actor Olu Jacobs, describing his career as an example of talent, discipline and professional dedication.
Obi expressed his condolences in a tribute posted on his X account on Thursday, a day after Jacobs’ family announced the actor’s death at the age of 84.
He described Jacobs’ contribution to Nigeria’s film and creative industry as remarkable, noting that his career spanned several decades in Britain and Nigeria.
Obi said Jacobs demonstrated the value of applying talent and discipline to one’s chosen profession and urged people to use their abilities to make meaningful contributions to society.
He said Jacobs’ career showed the importance of professionalism and dedication to one’s craft.
Obi extended his condolences to Jacobs’ family, friends, colleagues and members of the Nigerian creative community.
The veteran actor, who was also a film executive, was honoured with the national award of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, MFR, in 2011 for his contribution to the arts.
