Vice President Kashim Shettima has criticised former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, describing him as “the master of bogus statistics and incoherent economic prescriptions”.
Shettima spoke on Wednesday at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
He mocked Obi’s frequent comparisons between Nigeria and other countries, particularly Bangladesh, arguing that the country’s circumstances differ significantly.
“He seems convinced that a size 36 shirt tailored for Bangladesh will somehow fit Nigeria’s size 52 frame,” Shettima said.
The vice president argued that Nigeria could not adopt another country’s economic policies without considering differences in population, institutions and economic structures.
He also accused Obi of making an unsupported claim that he won the 2023 presidential election.
“This is called delusion of grandeur,” Shettima said.
It would be recalled that Obi has repeatedly cited Bangladesh while criticising the Tinubu administration’s economic policies, including its borrowing.
