Igbo-language cultural epic Ikenga: The Last Festival has crossed ₦100 million at the Nigerian box office, one month after its cinema release.
The film’s Executive Producer, Anita Odiakaose, announced the milestone on social media on Tuesday.
Film distributor FilmOne also announced on social media that Ikenga had grossed ₦103.4 million, describing it as the highest-grossing Igbo-language title in West Africa.
According to Odiakaose, the film was released in Nigerian cinemas on August 21 and has continued to attract audiences.
She said its performance showed the commercial potential of indigenous stories and growing interest in cultural content among Nigerian audiences and the diaspora.
Ikenga explores Igbo traditions through a story that combines cultural festivals, romance, fiction and elements of Igbo heritage.
About 90 per cent of the dialogue is in Igbo with subtitles, while around 90 per cent of the cast and crew are Igbo.
The film stars veteran actors including Pete Edochie, Patience Ozokwor and Kanayo O. Kanayo, alongside Zubby Michael, Jidekene Achufusi and Beverly Osu.
For Odiakaose, the box-office performance marks a major milestone as her first cinema project after producing more than 70 films mainly for YouTube.
She also called for greater efforts to preserve and promote the Igbo language, urging filmmakers to incorporate indigenous identity through language, names and cultural storytelling.
