Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA have intercepted 4,173.5 kilograms of Canadian Loud, a high-potency synthetic strain of cannabis, valued at over N10.4 billion at the Tincan Island Port in Lagos.
Speaking on the seizure, NDLEA Chairman, Mohamed Buba-Marwa, said the agency would continue working with local and international partners to dismantle drug trafficking networks targeting Nigeria.

“This second massive seizure in less than a week is a clear message to international syndicates who think they can use our ports as entry points for their trade,” Marwa said.
Marwa, in a statement on Wednesday by it spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, says the shipment originated from Toronto, Canada, and was tracked for over two months before it was intercepted during a joint examination involving the Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies on May 12.

Babafemi disclosed that the container was moved through Montreal and Morocco before arriving in Lagos aboard the vessel Osaka Voyage.
According to him, the illicit drugs were concealed inside a used Ford Bus and a Mercedes-Benz C300 packed within the shipping container.

The operation was carried out in collaboration with international partners, including the United Kingdom Home Office International Operations, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
The latest interception comes days after NDLEA uncovered another major consignment of Canadian Loud at a Lekki mansion in Lagos.
