The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has issued a formal letter of commendation to renowned Nollywood filmmaker and actress, Funke Akindele, for promoting respect for the Nigerian Naira in her latest movie, “Behind the Scene.”
In a letter dated April 8, 2026, and signed by the Director-General, Lanre Issa-Onilu, the agency praises Akindele for what it described as a patriotic message embedded in the film, particularly her depiction discouraging the spraying and trampling of the Naira at social events.
The NOA noted that the creative effort aligns with ongoing Federal Government campaigns promoting responsible civic behaviour and respect for national symbols, especially the currency.
According to the agency, the Naira represents not only a medium of exchange but also a symbol of Nigeria’s sovereignty and national identity, stressing that Akindele’s influence in the entertainment industry has helped amplify this message to a wider audience.
The letter further described the intervention as a positive example of how the creative industry can support national reorientation efforts through storytelling and film.
NOA encouraged the filmmaker to continue using her platform to promote civic responsibility, national pride, and value-based messaging across Nigeria and beyond.
The agency concluded by reaffirming its support for her contributions to nation-building and the entertainment industry.
