NSITF Inaugurates Anti-Corruption Champions to Boost Accountability

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has inaugurated its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), regional and branch champions to strengthen integrity, accountability and public trust in its operations.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive, Oluwaseun Faleye, stated this in Abuja during the inauguration, describing the initiative as a renewed commitment to building an institution guided by transparency and ethical conduct.

Faleye said the Unit was not established to witch-hunt staff but to identify corruption risks, promote compliance and prevent misconduct through collaboration.

He urged the newly inaugurated members to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, objectivity and professionalism, stressing that the fight against corruption required the collective commitment of all staff.

The NSITF boss added that deploying ACTU champions across regional and branch offices would extend anti-corruption advocacy beyond the headquarters, while assuring that management would strengthen internal controls and lead by example.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, described the inauguration as a critical step towards strengthening the Fund’s internal accountability mechanisms.

Aliyu said ACTU was designed to identify systemic weaknesses, mitigate corruption risks and promote ethical conduct, adding that the Unit was expected to complement, rather than compete with, management.

He urged the NSITF management to provide the Unit with adequate resources and an enabling environment to function effectively. He also encouraged the Fund to invite the ICPC as an observer during recruitment, promotion and procurement exercises to enhance transparency.

Responding on behalf of the inaugurated members, the Deputy General Manager, General Administration Services, NSITF Abuja Regional Office, Mrs Asma’u Mohammed, pledged their commitment to fairness, diligence and professionalism.
