Actress and filmmaker Tayo Sobola has hosted a four-day private watch party for her latest movie, Osun Dagbonu, giving fans, filmmakers and industry stakeholders an exclusive cinema experience in Lagos.
The private screening brought together movie lovers, influencers and entertainment executives, allowing guests to watch the film alongside the actress and share their reactions during interactive sessions.
Speaking at the event, Sotayo said the initiative was designed to create a closer connection with her audience while gathering honest feedback on the movie, which explores themes of spirituality, destiny and religious beliefs.
She explained that she chose to release Osun Dagbonu on YouTube instead of cinemas to make it more accessible to a wider audience, noting that watching the film on a big screen with others offers a completely different experience from watching it alone at home.
Veteran actress Toyin Afolayan, who played a major role in the movie, praised Sotayo for spotlighting African spirituality and cultural heritage, urging filmmakers to produce more stories that preserve and celebrate traditional African values.
