Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, are set for crucial international action in the June FIFA window as they step up preparations for the Morocco 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is finalising arrangements for a two-legged friendly series against a fellow WAFCON-bound nation, with the matches expected to be staged in Nigeria between June 7 and 14.
The fixtures come after the cancellation of the team’s proposed training tour of the United Kingdom, following the withdrawal of Jamaica from the planned friendly encounter.
A senior NFF official confirmed that discussions are at an advanced stage, expressing confidence that the games will go ahead as planned.
According to the official, the friendlies will provide head coach Justine Madugu with another opportunity to assess his squad, integrate new players, and strengthen team chemistry ahead of the continental championship.
Some key players previously unavailable due to club commitments are also expected to return, boosting the squad depth.
Africa’s defending champions, the Super Falcons, who hold a record 10 WAFCON titles, are targeting another dominant campaign while building momentum toward the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
The June matches are expected to play a key role in fine-tuning Nigeria’s tactical approach ahead of the tournament in Morocco.
