President Bola Tinubu has nominated Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power, subject to confirmation by the Senate.
The nomination is disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, the appointment is expected to reinforce ongoing reforms in Nigeria’s power sector.
“His nomination is expected to strengthen further ongoing efforts to reform the power sector, enhance grid stability, and attract sustainable investment in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the statement read.
The nomination, which has been transmitted to the National Assembly for screening, follows the resignation of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue elective office.
Tegbe, an indigene of Oyo State, is a fiscal and economic reform expert with over three decades of experience spanning both the public and private sectors.
He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMGAfrica, where he led key initiatives in fiscal policy reform, governance, and institutional transformation.
He currently serves as Director General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, where he coordinates development efforts between Nigeria and China, further strengthening economic and diplomatic ties.
