South African singer, Tyla Laura Seethal, has won the Best African Music Performance award at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, further cementing her growing global profile.
She clinched the prize with her hit song Push 2 Start, beating nominations from Nigeria’s Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr, as well as Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin for Hope & Love.
The win marks Tyla’s second victory in the category, following her first Grammy in 2024 for Water.
The Best African Music Performance category was introduced to spotlight African sounds on the global stage and celebrate the continent’s musical diversity.
Tyla’s latest success underscores the rising international influence of African music, particularly Afrobeats and Amapiano, at major global award platforms.
The ceremony also paid tribute to legendary Nigerian musician Fela Anikulapo Kuti, who was posthumously honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award, highlighting Africa’s lasting cultural and musical impact worldwide.
